A Biblical, Flexible, and Effective Church Capital Campaign to Raise Money for Building, Renovation, or Debt Retirement

Check

A professionally facilitated church capital campaign will typically raise between one and three times the church’s current annual income. Whether it is looking to raise funds to build, renovate, or retire debt, a capital campaign is an important part of every church’s financial strategy.

A biblical capital campaign will honor God and respect your congregation. A successful campaign will first bear spiritual fruit. This will lead to increased giving of the church members’ time, treasure, and talents to support the church’s mission and vision.

Our church capital campaign consultants guide you in determining the appropriate fundraising goals for your project. Then they help recruit a team of church leaders to serve as the executive directors for the fundraising campaign. In turn, the executive directors recruit church members to serve on committees dealing with prayer, communications, the kick off event, Bible studies, advance commitments, etc. With our professional guidance, you can run a capital campaign and raise funds to accomplish your church’s mission.

Let Abundant Giving help you run a capital campaign that is biblical, effective, and flexible.

The Three Foundations of a Capital Stewardship Campaign

A fundraising campaign should not be based solely on an emotional appeal. Instead it should be built on a balance of three foundational elements. When God created man He gave him a mind, emotions, and a spirit. Therefore, for maximum spiritual and financial success, the campaign must address each of these three facets of man in proper proportion.

The three foundations of a campaign that reaches its fundraising goals are intellectual information, emotional excitement, and spiritual truth

Foundation #1: The Mind

Church members  must intellectually understand the biblical need that will be met as a result of the campaign. Church leaders must provide facts and figures on what the church needs to do, why it needs to be done, and how much it will cost. The campaign must also clearly communicate how the members are expected to participate. This information should satisfy the rational mind by removing as many intellectual impediments as possible. Successfully addressing the issues of the mind leaves it free to act in concert with the emotions and the spirit. Much of this information can be acquired from a needs and feasibility study.

Foundation #2: The Emotions

While a capital campaign should not be based on emotional appeal alone, emotions do need to be addressed. Research shows that people make decisions based on emotion, more than on reason or logic. Therefore, it is important to cast the vision for the project in a way that excites the congregation.

Foundation #3: The Spirit

The final foundation of the stewardship campaign is spiritual. Of the three equal pillars, this one is perhaps a little more equal than the others. A stewardship program is not really about money, but about helping people make an appropriate faith response to meet a need as God has equipped them. (See 2 Corinthians 9:8.)

Everything church leaders need to teach about stewardship comes straight from Scripture. The Bible says that, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”  Since Scripture contains more than 2,000 verses dealing with money and possessions, there is no lack of material with which to stimulate faith. Therefore, the church’s challenge during the campaign is to proclaim and model these truths in a way that touches people’s hearts. Our church capital campaign consultants will help you do this effectively.

The ultimate goal of our campaigns is to have people study the Bible, pray about how much God wants them to give, and then give what He tells them to.
